Concierge-Level Gut Health Care, Without the Long Wait

Fort Myers is home to excellent physicians. But the changes to the overall healthcare system have left very little time for doctors to focus on nutrition, positive health changes and personalized care. Many clients come to Julie after months of tests and prescriptions, still dealing with symptoms that affect their careers and quality of life.  Digestive health is the core of Julie’s practice. Rather than focusing on symptoms alone, she looks for the underlying drivers, such as bacterial overgrowth, digestion and absorption issues, food sensitivities, or the gut-stress connection, and builds a step-by-step plan to address them.

Digestive Conditions We Specialize In

  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS-C, IBS-D, mixed)
  • Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO)
  • GERD, reflux, and heartburn
  • Chronic bloating and gas
  • Chronic constipation or diarrhea
  • Celiac disease and gluten-related disorders
  • Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis (nutrition support alongside your GI team)
  • Food sensitivities and intolerances

How We Look for What's Driving Your Symptoms

Julie doesn’t guess, and she doesn’t hand you a generic elimination diet. When it’s clinically useful, she orders targeted functional lab testing, such as comprehensive stool analysis, SIBO breath testing, and nutrient and inflammatory markers, and interprets the results in the context of your full history.

Your plan may include a phased therapeutic diet, targeted supplement recommendations, and strategies for the gut-brain connection, which matters so much in high-pressure careers. Every recommendation comes with the reasoning behind it, so you understand your body instead of just following rules.

Join Our Newsletter

Every month we send out a newsletter with functional medicine and nutrition-related content. Julie Hill, RD, LDN, FMCP includes health and wellness tips, recipes, recent health news and studies and more.

Hormone, Midlife & Longevity Nutrition

Mid-career brings its own physiology: shifting hormones, a changing metabolism, early bone loss, and the cumulative toll of stress. Julie works with women and men in their 40s, 50s, and beyond who want to stay sharp, strong, and energized for the decades ahead, and who would rather get ahead of problems than react to them.

Perimenopause & Menopause Support

Nutrition strategies to support you through hot flashes, sleep disruption, weight changes around the middle, mood shifts, and the digestive changes that often come with changing hormones. Julie coordinates with your OB-GYN or prescribing provider.

Bone Density & Healthy Aging

Bone loss speeds up in the years around menopause, often before anyone is checking for it. Julie builds plans around protein, calcium, vitamin D status, and muscle-supporting nutrition to help protect bone density, from early prevention through an osteopenia or osteoporosis diagnosis.

Energy, Focus & Metabolic Health

Brain fog, afternoon crashes, blood sugar swings, and stubborn weight don’t have to be accepted as “part of getting older.” Functional testing may reveal nutrient gaps, cortisol patterns, and metabolic markers that aren’t included in a standard panel.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a functional medicine dietitian?

A Registered Dietitian with advanced training in functional medicine, an approach that looks for the root causes of symptoms instead of only managing them. Julie uses functional lab testing and personalized nutrition to address the drivers behind digestive, hormone, energy, and inflammatory concerns.

What is the difference between a dietitian and a nutritionist?

A Registered Dietitian (RD) has completed accredited education, supervised clinical training, and a national board exam, and in Florida also holds a state license (LDN). “Nutritionist” is not a protected title in many states. Julie is an RD, a Florida LDN, and an FMCP.

How much does it cost to work with Julie?

The Comprehensive Initial Assessment & Nutrition Plan is $379, and follow-up visits are $160. Functional lab testing is priced separately based on what you need, and you’ll always know the cost before anything is ordered. HSA and FSA cards are accepted; eligibility depends on your plan.

I've already tried everything. Why would this be different?

Most people who come to Julie have tried elimination diets, probiotics, and medications, usually one at a time and without data to guide them. Julie’s approach starts with a full assessment and, when appropriate, functional testing, so your plan is built around your specific situation instead of general advice.

Can a virtual dietitian really help with GI issues?

Digestive nutrition care relies mostly on a detailed history, symptom patterns, lab data, and a structured plan, all of which work well by video. Test kits ship to your home, and any bloodwork is drawn at a local Gainesville lab.

I've already seen a gastroenterologist. Why see a dietitian?

Gastroenterologists diagnose disease and rule out serious conditions, which is essential. Julie’s role is complementary: looking at the nutritional, digestive, and lifestyle factors behind ongoing symptoms and building a day-to-day plan to address them. Many clients work with both.

How long until I notice a difference?

Timelines vary by person and condition. Julie will give you a realistic expectation after your initial assessment, and follow-up visits track your progress so your plan can be adjusted along the way.

Do you work with hormone and menopause concerns?

Yes. Hormone, midlife, and healthy-aging nutrition make up a large part of Julie’s practice, including perimenopause and menopause support, bone density, and energy and metabolic health.

Does insurance cover your services?

We’re a private-pay practice and don’t bill insurance directly. We provide itemized superbills you can submit for possible out-of-network reimbursement, and some carriers require a physician referral for reimbursement, so check with your plan. HSA and FSA cards are accepted; eligibility depends on your plan and may require a Letter of Medical Necessity.

Do I need a referral to work with Julie?

No referral is needed to work with Julie.

Who can work with Julie virtually?

Julie sees clients who are located in Florida at the time of their visits, including all of Fort Myers and Lee County.

How soon can I get started?

New clients are typically on Julie’s calendar within 1 week. The first step is a free 15-minute call.
